All London airports are within 90 minutes, and the school offers bus services to surrounding towns and cities.
The school campus spans approximately 23 acres. Ashford School continuously modernises itself to meet high global standards, equipping facilities with modern equipment and technology. As of today, the campus includes a large indoor swimming pool, music and drama studios (with multiple stages), bright modern classrooms for academic lessons, a sports hall, all-weather courts for basketball and other games, and well-equipped art studios. Functional science laboratories are frequently used by practical, technology, and design subjects. There is also a spacious communal dining hall, a student theatre, and a café.
Ashford School – Curriculum and Programs
- GCSE: Offered to students in Years 10 and 11, the GCSE program is designed according to the UK’s high educational standards. Core subjects required for all students include: English; a Foreign Language; Mathematics; and Science (Physics, Chemistry or Biology). In addition, students are asked to choose three or four subjects based on their interests. Some of the elective GCSE subjects offered include: Drama; Latin; Physical Education and Sports; Spanish; Geography; Design and Technology; French; Art and Design; Classical Civilisation; Fashion Design; German; Music; Religious Studies; and History.
- A LEVEL: This program is for students in Years 12 and 13. In the first year (AS Level), students typically study 4–5 subjects in almost university-level depth. In the second year (A2 Level), students focus on 3–4 subjects. A Level subjects are chosen individually based on the student’s intended university course. Some of the A Level subjects offered by the school include: Business Theory; Geography; Photography; Biology; Classical Civilisation; Further Mathematics; Spanish; Theatre Studies; Design and Technology; German; Mathematics; Sports Theory; Economics; Chemistry; Art; History; Textile Design; English Literature; Psychology; Latin; Music; French; and Physics.
International students also attend supplementary English classes through the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) program.
Class sizes range from 1 to 18 students depending on subject popularity and relevance, with an average class size of 10.
The school offers a wide variety of extracurricular and social activities, many of which also serve as learning opportunities. Recognised professionals from various fields are frequently invited to deliver themed lessons (at least every two weeks) and individual sessions.
The Ashford School International Center (ASIC) opened in September 2015. This department is specifically designed to meet the needs of students whose first language is not English. The centre enables international students to complete iGCSE qualifications before integrating into the main school.
Ashford School – Extracurricular Activities
Ashford School provides all the facilities necessary for students’ full and holistic development, with a wide range of clubs and interest groups. Examples of extracurricular activities include: Fine Arts, Orchestra, Design, Drama, Vocal Music, Choir, Dance, and Photography.
Many students spend their free time engaging in active recreation and sports. The most popular sports include: Athletics, Football, Cricket, Squash, Hockey, Dance, Tennis, Netball, Badminton, and Swimming.
On Saturdays, students are exempt from academic classes; they are free to relax, go for walks with friends, or take trips to Canterbury or London.
