Bede's School

School Overview

Bede’s School is located in two important areas: one campus by the seaside in Eastbourne, and the other in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is a private, co-educational day and boarding school. Founded in 1895 by Mrs Frances Browne, the school offers education for children from as young as 3 months up to 18 years old. The school is made up of two main campuses: Bede’s Senior School and Bede’s Prep School. Bede’s Senior School is located in the rural Sussex village of Upper Dicker, just outside the South Downs National Park, and provides education for around 760 students. Bede’s Prep School is based in Eastbourne and has about 400 pupils. Until 2012, the school’s official name was St Bede’s School, and it is still sometimes known by this name. Bede’s School offers excellent educational facilities, classrooms, laboratories, and art studios. In addition, the school has 7 grass pitches, a fitness suite, a multi-purpose sports centre, a cricket centre, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Remarkably, the school also has its own zoo with more than 60 different animal species, including monkeys, lemurs, various birds, reptiles, and fish.
