Wrekin College – Curriculum and Programs

GCSE: This is the traditional UK curriculum for Years 10–11. Students must complete the GCSE to take A Level courses, which prepare them for university. Core compulsory subjects include English Language & Literature, Mathematics, and Sciences (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry).
Optional GCSE subjects offered by Wrekin College include: Art & Design, Design & Technology, Drama, Geography, History, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Modern Languages (French, German, Spanish), Music, and Physical Education.

A LEVEL: This is the traditional UK curriculum for Years 12–13. Students who successfully complete the program can enter universities in the UK and many other countries without additional exams. Students select their subjects based on their intended university degree, so the range and quality of A Level subjects offered by a school are important. Wrekin College offers the following A Level subjects: Accounting, Art & Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Drama & Theatre Studies, Economics, English Literature, Geography, Government & Politics, History, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Modern Languages, Music, Physical Education, Physics, Product Design, Psychology, and Religious Studies.

ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL): Non-native English speakers who need extra support to improve their language skills can take ESOL courses for an additional fee. These lessons aim to develop students’ ability to use English effectively and communicate confidently in academic settings. Students also prepare for IELTS, which is a requirement for UK universities.
Wrekin College – Extracurricular Activities
A wide variety of extracurricular activities are offered to students. Physical development and sports are highly emphasized. Some of the sports facilities include Golf, Polo, Football, Athletics, Cricket, Fitness, Badminton, Swimming, Hockey, Aerobics, Netball, Tennis, Volleyball, Rugby, Squash, Gymnastics, Basketball, and Shooting.
Creative studios, scientific and academic societies are also diverse. Regular domestic and international trips are organized to enrich students’ experiences.
Wrekin College – University and Academic Achievements

GCSE 2020: 26.3% of students achieved the top grades (8/9), while 48.5% scored 7/9. Overall, 97.4% of students passed their GCSEs with grades 9–4.

A LEVEL 2020: More than one-third of Wrekin students achieved A*-A grades, with 88% of all grades ranging from A*-C. 99.4% of students passed their A Levels.
