Oundle School

Oundle School provides co-educational day and boarding education for students aged 11–18. Of its approximately 1,100 students, 75% are boarders, and 20% are international. There are 381 students in the Sixth Form, with average class sizes ranging from 12 to 19. Founded in 1556, Oundle School is a traditional English boarding school located in the market town of Oundle near Peterborough, just one hour by train from London. Modern students need the best academic qualifications as well as adaptability and emotional intelligence to face the challenges of their future lives, and Oundle has long been associated with the best of modern independent education. Curriculum and Programs

Oundle School offers GCSE/iGCSE followed by A Level/Pre-U, with teaching provided by subject specialists.

GCSE: Core subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and English, with exams at the end of the course. Students can also choose five additional subjects, including at least one foreign language. Options include Computer Systems, Art, Design & Technology, Electronics, Drama, History, Music, Geography, Sports Science, and Religious Studies.
A Level / Pre-U: Students take four subjects in the first year (Pre-U or A Level) and three in the second year. The Pre-U offers ten disciplines: Physics, Italian, Art History, History, Politics/Government, German, English Literature, Economics, Chinese, and Chemistry. A Level options include Design & Technology, Computer Systems, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Classical Civilizations, Economics, Electronics, French, Latin, Geography, Ancient Greek, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Spanish, Music, Physics, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sports Science, and Drama. Additional courses include foreign languages (Russian, Chinese, Italian), music technology, philosophy, theology, scriptwriting, and foundations of law.
SAT / ACT: Specialized preparation is offered for the American College Test (ACT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for students applying to the U.S., and representatives from prestigious universities are invited to meet with students regarding admissions.
Oxbridge Preparation: Oundle School offers a dedicated program for students aiming for Oxford or Cambridge University.

Co-Curricular Activities

Sports: Sport is highly valued at Oundle, with students competing locally, regionally, and nationally across a wide range of disciplines. Athletic excellence and elite performance are encouraged and supported, but all students have opportunities for both recreation and competition. Facilities, including two floodlit AstroTurf pitches, a Tartan athletics track, two boathouses, a swimming pool, and two shooting ranges, were further enhanced through a Sports Development Plan in 2016.

Creative Arts: The 264-seat Stahl Theatre lies at the heart of Drama at Oundle, regularly hosting student performances and inviting professional theatre groups. The Gascoigne building accommodates instrumental music lessons for 700 students, and a formal partnership with the Royal College of Music provides exceptional opportunities. Art is taught in four large, bright, well-equipped studios at the Cloisters and through exhibitions at the Civanperçemi Gallery.

Accommodation

The school offers boarding in eight boys’ and five girls’ houses, each designed for 60 students. Students are accommodated in single or double rooms, with final-year students enjoying single rooms with private facilities. Each house has communal kitchens, lounges, computer and TV rooms, and Wi-Fi. Boarding includes full meals (three per day, with packed lunches on trip days). Every boarding house has a dining room.
