School Overview

Uppingham School was founded in 1584. It provides co-educational, boarding and day education for students aged 13-18. Of its 800 students, 180 live and reside on campus. Uppingham School is located in the Midlands of England, approximately an hour and a half from London. The Uppingham School campus features a 300-seat theatre, a modern theatre studio, a multi-purpose sports center, diving, fitness and dance studios, an indoor swimming pool, a library, modernized computer classrooms, and music practice rooms. The total sports and recreational grounds cover 65 acres, including shooting ranges and galleries, 12 tennis courts, 3 squash courts, and fields for team sports.

The campus has 15 comfortable boarding houses: 9 for boys and 6 for girls, each accommodating 45-50 students. For girls, Year 9 rooms are for 4 students, Years 10-11 are for 2 students, and Sixth Form students have single rooms. Boys in Years 9-11 share multi-occupancy rooms, while Years 12-13 can request single rooms. Regular competitions are organized among houses to foster friendship and healthy competition. International students are provided with full-board balanced meals, served in a large communal dining hall. Vegetarian, Muslim, and Jewish dietary requirements are accommodated. In the evenings and on weekends, numerous recreational activities are arranged for all students. Students constantly interact with peers from different countries and cultures.
